Deleted Images (Catalog) remain on disk

Hello everyone,

I'm using ASP 1.0.1.10 on Linux (Ubuntu 12.04). I recently sorted out my latest set of pictures and noticed that files that I meant to delete still remained on the hard drive. I created a catalog of my folders containing pictures I removed the images from the catalog. I believe I read in the user manual that removing a file from the catalog would move it to the file systems trash directory, but apparently it didn't.

Has anyone had a similar problem before? Also, now that everything's deleted in the catalog but not on the file system, is there any way to automatically delete images that do no longer exist in the catalog?
