What is the trick in having my video clip to show an image from the video when viewing it in windows explorer? After clipping videos, and viewing them in windows explorer, some clips show only as default video player's icons.
Also, how can I change an old video file to show an image in the file when viewed in windows explorer?
Is my question really possible?
Thanks

I believe you have to make the change for each folder you want to do this with, but it depends upon your Windows settings.
I don't think you can be selective in which frame dsiplays in the thumbnail; I believe it automatically selects the first frame to display. That's a problem if you start your videos with a black screen and transition to the video - the thumbnail will always show black.
Good luck,

You have to change the view of the folder contents. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder you want to look at and then select VIEW from the title bar and select THUMBNAILS from the choices. I'm not sure it it will work for all video file types, though, so you'll have to experiment. What is the trick in having my video clip to show an image from the video when viewing it in windows explorer?

Refreshing your view of that folder might do the trick. After clipping videos, and viewing them in windows explorer, some clips show only as default video player's icons.
??? I don't think age of the video file has anything to do with it, just the file type and whether you have the THUMBNAIL view selected for that folder. Also, how can I change an old video file to show an image in the file when viewed in windows explorer?

I Have My Video Folder Set To THUMBNAIL VIEW.
I always have my video folder set to THUMBNAIL vies to view videos, and I understand that with a video with a black prelude, it stays that way in the thumbnail view.
I would like to have a way to resave old video clips I had pre-ulead to be able to know what file is which without opening it in a video player.
I have files with the same names but different suffix, so with an image view I can identify the file.

I done a quick test on what you might be wanting, and it seemed to work.
Your video clips (UVS.......avi) place on your timeline. Now find an image in the video that would help you identify that clip. Create an image, then place that image at the front of the clip..Then you have to Create a video file same as project settings..viola!! Windows explorer now displays that image as a thumbnail for your clip..

VIDOMAN - Just A Thouth, You Are Quite Right!
After reading your post, I just thought it WILL work without even trying you style. This is a good point you made. In your style I can even use a clip that WILL remind me of the file than the defaul image some files might have.
Thanks
