Can anyone advise me what process/settings I need to use when trying to produce small but detailed images using PSP Photo X2?
I have attempted to solve this problem numerous times without success. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Small detailed images using PSP Photo X2
Small as in pixel count or small as in how much space it takes up on the hard drive?

It seems that you are asking for your cake and to eat it too. The smaller an image in both pixels and number of bytes the less information it can carry.
That means less detail.
Might also help if you let us know the type of image you are after - postage stamp size and lots of detail there? That detail can only be obtained as a crop from a much larger detailed image.

Re: Small detailed images using PSP Photo X2
Hi thanks for replying Hartpaul and df. I currently have a gif file that is 2.172 cm x 1.858 cm with a pixel/cm = 78.74. In terms of pixels its 171 x 225. The problem I have is that I want to put text and pics on it that have as much detail as possible. When I put text on it or paste a small picture onto it, the picture has not detail and the text is very uneven and very poor quality. At the moment the file is just 15k, but I wouldn't mind it it was 1 MB. Its the details in the image 2.172 cm x 1.858 cm that I want to get right. My problem is that I don't understand the basics of how to make this image as good as others I have seen that are of similar cm dimensions. I hope that info helps and would be very grateful for some advice. Thanks again, John

First of all the gif file is not going to contain a large amount of information, it will also be limited in the number of colours it can display.
What you are attempting to do is make a silken purse out of a sow's ear..
If I was trying to place some text on what appears to be something the size of a postage stamp, I would have to scan that at at least 600 pixels per inch (236 pixels / cm) . This would give me an image that is approx 500 pixels on long side.
I would then place the text on that with 0 as stroke width and whatever color as the background / fill.
Then resize the image to the required dimensions . I used 36 pixels as the size of the arial text and resized to 225 x 171 pixels.
