VSX5 PRO unable to launch - possible solution

Post by bartezz »

about a week ago I suddenly could not start VS X5 anymore, the program ran into an unspecified error and aborted.

- I did a virus scan, did the manual removal, cleaning of the registry and reinstalling of the program, but the problem persisted.
- Strangely this problem also occured with Videostudio X3 which I still had on my computer.

Ultimately I read this solution with solved it for me, the problem was caused by a program called Browser Protect (or in the help topic Browser Manager):

http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... 000000L5gO

On my computer the program that caused the problem was called Browser Protect instead of Browser Manager. But by removing it the problem was solved and VS X5 now works as usual.

I would like to point out this solution since:
a) I notice similar posts about this problem
b) the program Browser Protect not intentionally installed by me, probably was a more hidden option, I was not aware of this program at all so would never see it as the cause

Hopefully this helps more people
