Hello,
I am editing a video and the footage is an HD .mov (30 fps, 24bit 1920x1080 48s in length) file recorded directly from a logitech webcam. The clip plays fine in the Library, but when I add it to the storyboard/timeline the video plays super fast, then goes blank for the duration of the clip. Any idea what could be causing this and if it is possible to fix?
Thanks!

Can you please right click on the file in either the VS timeline or its library window and copy ALL its Properties here (or post a screen grab of the Properties box). That way we will at least have a clearer idea of the exact format of the video under the .mov wrapper extension. It could be using the h.264 codec, a Photo/Motion JPEG codec, or something else. It could also be either using either 30 full frames per second or else 60 interleaved half frames per second (in which case the Properties should tell us it is using, probably, Upper Field First). But in any case, it should not be doing what it is doing.
Have you also tried rendering the file to a new format? If so, does the video play properly?
What version of Quick Time do you have on your computer? For some unknown reason, some users can install and use the very latest version of QT and it works fine with VS. But some other users find they have to use an older version of QT to be able to play and edit .mov files properly. What version of VS are you using? I am pretty sure that X5 does not load any version of QT automatically, though previous versions did...

Hello,
It appears that if I drag the video file from the library into the end of the timeline, it works fine. The issue only occurs when I try to splice the new clip into the timeline. I guess it is now no longer an issue, but certainly is strange.
Thanks,
Paul
