Pro x5 will not install

This program has given me nothing but grief so far,
After installing it on my original laptop it completely crashed my computer. It was 3 years old so I sucked up frustration, told myself it was probably nearing the end anyway and started trying to salvage what I could. After struggling for hours I managed to get the computer to work long enough for me to uninstall it which then made the computer run fine.
Regardless, I've purchased a new laptop anyway, but now the installer seems to have freezed. I've tried twice now on this computer, the first time I left it for several hours (longer then the original instal) but it wouldn't get past "Please wait while we configure Smartsounds Quicktracks 5..."
I cancelled the process, uninstalled the components that were already setup and started over. This time I left the computer running over night but its stuck on "Please wait while we configure Smartsounds Quicktracks 5..." again.

Is there a troubleshoot for this? Have I got a faulty disk or just the worst luck?
