I used older versions of PSP for years, and I was happy with them. Recently needed to upgrade to X5. Not happy. Now that I've vented....
I can't even figure out the terminology. I wanted to change the background color around images from jet black to something else. I tried View --> Workspace Color, and set that to blue, which at least gave me a decent color for the icons and menus. But the space where images are displayed -- I would have thought that is the "workspace" -- but whatever it is called, I can't figure out how to change the color on that.
Also, I want to uncheck the "Crop Image" checkbox on the Tool Options palette... but I don't see a "Crop Image" checkbox. Please tell me how to find it.
I'm sure I'll have more questions. This interface is a disaster compared with the older ones (from PSP 6, 7, and 8, which I used previously). Any help is really appreciated.

Re: Various help needs
Try View > Workspace > Medium Grey which seems to have a lighter shade of grey / black for that centre work area.
The Crop Image checkbox occurs when you use the straighten tool:

Re: Various help needs
Thank you, and a follow up question.
On your screen shot, I see the drawing is in its own window with borders and title bar. On my display, all figures are showing up in tabbed displays. I want them in separate windows, as in yours.
Once again, I can't find the setting to make this change. Please let me know how it's done.
FYI, and in case anyone from Corel is monitoring, I think its ridiculous that the user does not have more control over the background colors in the workspace.

Hi Joe,
Just go to the Window menu and un-tick Tabbed Documents.

How big is your tool options palette? If you enlarge the palette -drag the right edge of the palette to the right- does it show up?joe123 wrote:Also, I want to uncheck the "Crop Image" checkbox on the Tool Options palette... but I don't see a "Crop Image" checkbox. Please tell me how to find it.
