I am having issues converting AVCHD Video (.MTS) videos to WMV HD 1080 30p. (16x9)
When I try to use this default option the final result never comes out 16x9 widescreen. The original is 16x9 widescreen. (In the settings tab it is checked to be 16x9).
Now if I use the WMV HD 720p, it will be 16x9 widescreen (using same original video).
I am pretty sure this did work fine when I first installed this software, but something has changed...and I know I have not touched any settings at all.
Any suggestions?

Hi Ken
Yes I do have that installed. I didn't install it. Either it came with my version of Win7 or another program thru it in there.
Can I use the decoder to make it 16x9 ? I looked it over and I don't see where it would do this.
Thanks,
John

I never understood why it does this. 720 is 16:9 but 1080 is 4:3.

Re: Issues converting .MTS to WMV HD 1080 30p 16x9
Hi
There seems to be some confusion here.
Are you saying that after converting the video to WMV HD 1080 that the video actually plays as 4:3.
Yes WMV HD 1080 will use the frame size 1440 x 1080 which does calculate as 4:3
Windows Media Video
24 bits, 1440 x 1080, 16:9, 25 fps
Frame-based
44.100 KHz, 16 bits, Stereo
Ulead - WMV HD 1080 25p
However the video is anamorphic, the frame will be stretched to display as widescreen 16:9 (Non Square Pixel Rendering)
Standard definition 720 x 576 (480) is also anamorphic and can be displayed as 4:3 or 16:9. The pixels are non-square (rectangular)
HD types 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 1080 are true 16:9 shapes and do not use the anamorphic effect. The pixels are square.
Most video for the internet is not anamorphic so will display as the frame dimensions.
