I have PSP x2 and have been using it for some weeks but only with jpeg. Have now started retaking in double format i.e. jpeg and CR2. I cannot seem to be able to read the CR2 files Message I get is "The specific file cannot be identified as a supported type"
Have activated both CRW Canon Raw & Raw Raw in File Format Association but still can't open the files for editing or viewing.
Any idea s please?

I have moved your post to the PaintShop Pro forum as you are more likely to get a response there.

You need to check if it is supported.
Regardless of that, I would strongly recomend you use Canon's DPP and export a TIFF to PSP.

Re: PSP x2 & CR2 Raw
I am using two cameras which support raw :-
Canon 30D & 7D.I would assume that both are supported as they both record in CR2 format which is listed in the PSP File ormat association.
I also use PS Elements, Canon Digital Photo Pro and Zoom Browzer. I can view in all and manipulate in both Elements DPP.
Why do I need to use DPP if I can import the images directly with PSP?

Re: PSP x2 & CR2 Raw
It is the camera(s) not the file type .CR2 that you need to check.
I have moved from an EOS 350D thru 550D and you need a newer version of PSP for each camera released.
However, PSP Camera RAW reading is lousy and useless. I advise that you don't use it but do as I say - DPP and TIFF into PSP.
Many of us do that and it works a treat!

Re: PSP x2 & CR2 Raw
I use Canon's DPP for my Canon 1D, 400D, 550D, and 40D. I never have to worry about if it's compatible. PSP also is pretty miserable if you have more than just a few images to try to process raw files for. It's just part of the workflow.
Because DPP is a far quicker workflow, reads all of the in camera edits, can apply other in camera edits after the fact, can revert an image shot in black and white back to color, can apply adjustments custom designed to Canon cameras, can apply Canon Custom Picture Styles, does a far better job of tagging, rating, sorting, etc..... Don't get me wrong, PSP is a fine pixel editor, but it's not a digital asset management tool. Not even close. Why do I need to use DPP if I can import the images directly with PSP?

Re: PSP x2 & CR2 Raw
Another point, I bought a Canon 5D (12 Mp) in 2006 and the Digital Photo Professional (DPP) program that came with it could process RAW files (.CR2) .
I could drop a 5D CR2 file into X2 and it would translate but no Camera Raw Lab. Photoshop CS2 (2005) would not recognise that Raw file but CS3 would.
(A friend had CS3 and it would process. )
I then upgraded to Canon 5D II (21 Mp) in March 2009 and found that the DPP program had to be upgraded, so Canons dedicated DPP was unable to read the files of its latest cameras without an upgrade.
A friend had to update Photoshop to CS4 to be able to process the MkII CR2 files.
Meanwhile PSPX3 (2009) with all patches can process 5D and 5D MkII CR2 files.
So each new camera has a different CR2 file requiring a different set of instructions to process and even the much vaunted 10 times more expensive Photoshop is sometimes not up to date with the latest cameras.
Corel has a basic Camera RAW Lab but it is not what PSP is known for which is photo editing almost on a par (some would say easier and more convenient) with Photoshop. And even Adobe has put out a specialised program (Lightroom) to specifically target RAW files and file management .
It seems the complainers want PSP to be more than equal to PS and Lightroom combined and only pay peanuts for it. Get real!!!
I am grateful that PSP does all of the basic editing ..and more that I need.
