Opened VideoStudio to re run an old .vsp file and the sound had disappeared completely. I checked using a music file and again there was no sound. Other programs are fine, Youtube works OK and my Microphone is still operating.
The loss of sound seems to only affect VSx5. I cannot work out if it is the program that has corrupted or I have pressed the wrong button. I have checked all the usual suspects like the mute buttons and these are OK.
Any Ideas?

Re: Loss of sound on VSx5
With the project in the timeline, please right click on one of the clips and copy all its Properties here -- either manually or by taking a screen grab. In particular we need to know what the original format was of the audio in that project (and the music clip you mentioned) and then we might be able to offer a sensible suggestion...

Re: Loss of sound on VSx5
The sound file is of WAV format. It has been ripped from a CD. The point of my question is that all these files worked in the past and do not work now.

Re: Loss of sound on VSx5
Have you, since the files last worked correctly, downloaded any programs which might include audio codecs? For example, there is a program called Tunebite which includes a codec pack and which can sometimes interfere with other programs.

Re: Loss of sound on VSx5
Moreover, (L)PCM/wav is the absolute rock standard audio format, and the codec comes as part of Windows, and is then used by VS (and other programs) -- unless, as StanLaurel has suggested, something has overwritten or removed it. Anyway, I would look in a codec pack like K-Lite and see if they have a standard wav codec, and install that (though I wouldn't install the whole pack...)

Re: Loss of sound on VSx5
Thank you for your help and advice. In this case KISS applied, I did not know that Corel creates its own control in the Volume Mixer when VSx5 is loaded. (Right click Speaker icon - click Open Volume Mixer) This had set itself to zero thus no sound from VSx5. How it got set to zero I don't know as I had no idea that this control would be activated when Corel was loaded.

Thanks again Ken and Stan.
