'Add Media' problem in DVD burning process

Post by JoshT561 »

Hi All,

I have 3.91 GB of clips in a project file that I am ready to burn to a 4.7 GB DVD... unfortunately I am stuck in the 'Add Media' step 1 of 3, the 'Next' button is grayed out so I cannot proceed to the next 'Menu & Preview' step. I'm guessing there is a simple reason for this, but can't figure it out for the life of me. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Josh

this is usually a sign of incompatibility - which version of VideoStudio are you using ?

as a workaround try holding down the alt key while you press 'N' - standard windows keyboard shortcut "alt+N" for 'Next'

Thank you... unfortunately, the alt+n shortcut didn't work. Another problem I noticed is the Add/Edit Chapter feature is also not available/grayed out.

I am using VideoStudio Pro X5. The source video files are QuickTime Movie (.MOV) in 640x480 and 1280x720... I don't think this is the problem as I have another DVD project I am working on that uses the same file types but does not have the 'Next' button or 'Add/Edit Chapter' buttons grayed out.

Thanks again,
Josh

It would probably be better if you first converted your edited projects in the Editing module of VS to DVD-compatible mpeg-2: Share > Create Video File> DVD. That way, when you go to Share > Create Disc > DVD, you can add the new mpeg-2 files. (If there is anything in the burning timeline when you open the burning module, delete it and add the mpeg-2 files manually.) Then you should not have any problems with the production of the menu and the actual burning. Moreover, the overall time take would be about the same.

Thank you for the ideas. As is probably the case most often, the problem was user error. I had unknowingly checked the 'Use first clip as introductory video' option for the one and only clip, which in turn grays out the option for Add/Edit Chapter and the Next button. Embarassingly simple, but wanted to share in case anyone else ever experiences the same problem while trying to create a DVD.
