Pal 16:9 files from MotionStudio 3D
Hello everybody. This my first post. Is it possible to create output files in Motion Studio that have the correct pixel size for Pal widesreen DV. It is a great piece of software and even better if it will do this. Thanks and hoping for a reply. Pertie

Sorry -- but while I agree MS3D is good piece of software, I really don't understand what you mean by "correct pixel size"... Can you please explain with a little more detail? I regularly use MS3D for my titles in a variety of formats, and have never had any problems... Are you talking about wide screen 16:9 or ordinary 4:3? Or something else?

Re: Pal 16:9 files from MotionStudio 3D
Thanks for your attention Ken. I am referring to the aspect ratios of the pixels. When I create a title at 720 x576 pixels, and import it into a widescreen project, the title is cut off at the sides. If I change the properties of the title to the wider aspect ratio then the title is stretched to fill the screen. This ok except that I need to avoid distortion of the shapes. i.e. circles need to stay round, not become elliptical. I believe that 4:3 and 16:9 formats have the number of pixels. It's just that in 16:9 the pixels are much wider. i.e. No longer square. Many thanks.

Re: Pal 16:9 files from MotionStudio 3D
I assume that when you have finished your project, you select File > Create Video File, then select AVI as the general format, then DV Type 1 (or 2) as the specific format? Is that correct. And if so, then on the General tab, what are you selecting as your 'Display aspect ratio' down at the bottom of that tab? If your original video is widescreen, then naturally I would be selecting 16:9 as this of course produces the non-square pixels which emulate that aspect ratio. But nonetheless, circles should still be circles.
Personally, I instead always choose 'Export Video Overlay' which only offers AVI and TGA as possible formats. Moreover, the AVI is uncompressed video where just about the only thing you can change is the frame format, which I set to my own preferred widescreen high def format. The resulting file is always large (around 1 GB for a 10 second clip). But I have never had any trouble with distortion, and the video is ready to be used as an overlay...

Thanks Ken. You gave me the clue when mentioning uncompressed video. I was selecting uncompressed and if you do that then the option to select pixel aspect ratio is NOT available.
I have tried DV-Type 2 and that works fine. Thanks a lot. This a point which I cannot find anywhere in the help files.
