PSP X5 Compression Factor changes without warning

Post by Tadjio »

In PSP X5 I usually keep my JPEG Compression Factor set to 2.
Just occasionally, I find it reverts to the default of 20 without warning.
I suspect it is when I use a a Ctrl+F12 Save Copy As or when I change Image Type (JPG/TIF/PSP).

Has anyone else noticed this?
I nearly ruined some photos of my new grand-daughter

Yup, I have noticed this, it's very annoying.

It did similar things in previous version, then seemed to sort itself out and now it's back again :-(

It was my daughter who noticed when I edited a photo of her new-born :(
She usually blames it on my 'fiddling' with PSP so I'm anxious to work out how it crept in...

Any ideas as to when / how it occurs?

Can't help with the compression issue, but did wish to congratulate you, Tadjio, on the new grandchild.

Yes congrats, and thanks so much for notifying us of this. This is a deal breaker for me.

Thanks everyone.

Yes, it is a deal breaker as it is "invisible" if you don't check the output carefully.
As I said, I suspect it is when I use a a Ctrl+F12 Save Copy As or when I change Image Type (JPG/TIF/PSP) but I can't reproduce it.

As I have already mentioned; this is NOT new, it's happened in previous versions.
But anyone re-saving the same .jpg image is asking for trouble, so a quick check every so often can put this right (until the next time).
I has been reported before, but of course that doesn't mean a lot.
