Dividing a Multi-photo Scanned File
I recently downloaded a Trial Version of PSP X5, and one of Adobe PSE11. For my purposes, I find PSP easier to use and therefore preferable. However, in PSE11, a scan of several photos contained in a single file can be "auto" split or divided into individual files, and as such can be edited individually. Try as I have, I have found nothing similar in PSP X5. This could be a deal breaker, as I have numerous old photos to scan and edit, and I find that doing 3 to 5 at a time is a big time saver. Does anyone know if PSP 5 has this feature? Thanks to all.

Auto? No, this process is still very manual in PSP.
Currently PSP relies on its crop tool. The Crop tool has an option for cropping to a new image, so when you perform the crop it'll simply create a new image of the cropped area and leave the original alone. This could or could not be quick. Obviously, not as fast as "Divide Scanned Images" in PSE11.
Of course you could easily create your own methods for dealing with such images. None will be as fast as PSE11's automated command but you have a lot more initial control and they can still be achieved in a decent amount of time. It's not like separating 3-5 images is horribly time consuming.
The real question is, could you stand taking five minutes or less to separate out these images? Or does every minute count for you? In all fairness, the same things you can do to help make sure PSE's command is as accurate as possible (extra white space between images, making them as straight as possible because the auto straightening may or may not work well) you can also do to make the manual separation of the images in PSP easier. But PSE's command could very well serve you better because it does do an excellent job.

Look at the options available in the software supplied with your scanner. For example, I've got an old Lexmark 4300 All-In-One unit, and its software has a "MagicChop" option that automatically divides multiple photos out of one scanned image.
