movie factory 4 wont recognise dolby digital tracks

Post by letoad »

greetings. i have a little problem that hopefully someone can help with. i downloaded the trial version of dvdmf4 and everything worked fine. when i purchased mf4 and installed ( after deleting the trial of course ) i find that an error message appears when i try and import dolby digital encoded files from dvd-vr disks. it's not the disks or the files as they are fine on my other puters. i installed the same software on another machine and it works great.... must be some settings wrong but i cant find any differences. anyone got any ideas? error message is..

failed to begin VIO playback instance in the import DVD preview module. report id : 0x8004095a(2394)

i still get the video, just no sound

same problem here

hi, i'm having the same problem. the trial version worked smoothly but now that i've purchased it, i get the same error message with no audio. i've done a search and found others with the same quandry but i haven't seen anyone write back with a solution. i called ulead support and they seemed baffled by the error message. they sent me a link to an update which did not help at all. so now i'm waiting for the tech person to contact me but i'm doubtful that this problem will be resolved if they're not even aware that so many of us are having this issue. i'll let you know if they suggest something helpful.

If it works on one machine and not the other most likely hardware
differences.

I would report this to tech support telling them the hardware information
and operating systems on both machines.

Problem solved

Post by michalus »

I have the same problem. I have been testing trial version and after I bought full version and it isn't work and return the same error code. I start seeking solution, I found this post and after I wrote e-mail to Ulead Support. What is interesting that I had left free days in trial version and I can change full version (which isn't work) and install trial version again (and again trial is working perfect). So I was sure that it is a software bug and my hardware is ok. After some time I have tested full version on the same model of laptop (Dell D610). On the second machine no trial version was installed before. Full version start working on the second computer without any patches!

Support send me in e-mail some instructions, but they are not helped me.

Code: Select all

Perform a Clean Remove of the program from your system. You may or may not find all entries in the list.

1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".

2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders:
    "C:\Windows\Temp"
    “C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp” (for WinXP and 2000)
"My Documents\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0" (Working Folder)

3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"

4. Delete the folder for MovieFactory 4.0

5. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems". If a file says it cannot be deleted, open the Task Manager and end the process named "ulcdrsvr.exe" then delete the folder again.

6. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"

7. Delete the folder "{448AB2CB-C94A-47DE-80B8-9D7824DEFA57}"

8.  Go to Start-->Run

9. type "regedit"

10. Go to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"

and

"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"

11. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.

12. Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"

and

"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"

13. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.

14.Close "Regedit"

15.Restart Windows

16.Reinstall MovieFactory 4

Please download and install DMF 4.01 patch:

I was very upset and I reinstall Windows. It's a one of the solutions, program start working! In my opinion trial version have bad uninstaller and after deinstalation process something is still in system and causing this errors with full version.

It's ridiculous that I need to reinstall my OS.

I never installed the trial version and have the full version.
On some disks I get that error.
Have it working now and can't reproduce the error.
Re-installing windows operating system?
Can you rollback the system to a point before installing MF4 trial?

In the above post, have you tried what that person did?
To change the audio for "Project Settings" to lpcm.
(Can't see how that could work but it did something for him).

Yes, I tried to change settings to lpcm and it's didn't help (In my opinion it's also sounds like magic that changing settings to the same should help)

Yes, I reinstall Windows. It was the easiest way for me because I have only some data and standard programs like Office.

After reinstalling Windows and installing full version of Movie Factory everything with preview is ok. (I have of course other problem when I try to burn to DVD)

I can't rollback to the point before I installed MF4 because I don't create restore points before every installation so I can't check this solution.

That error occurs in MF4 much more than MF3. There are so many variable conditions causing that error, media, formats, type of reader/writer. Other software on the machine.

I would think what that person did shouldn't have anything to do with importing. Go figure. Only takes a few seconds to change that setting and give it a try.

I would expect them to have a fix sometime in one of the next updates. Users are having similar problems in VS9.
Problem area appears to be in the -VR/+VR and rewritable media.
Dvd-r/+r, straight dvd-video disks are importing.

I've fixed a few problems importing with the new module by either copying to the harddisk first and importing from the harddisk or sharing the dvd drive and mapping a drive letter back to it. Then importing from the new assigned drive letter.

Audio problems

Post by bigdeebb »

I also have the audio problem after importing a DVD-Video file. The preview does not work and get that error message about the preview mode. The audio does not work no matter what I try. Also the video freezes after about 9 seconds. If I go to enhanced video and then click on mute under the audio tab and then unclick it, the freezing problem goes away. If I toggle on the mute button again, the freeze video happens again. This is very repeatable. I am running MF4 with Patch 4.03 installed. I am getting exasperated on this problem.

What format is the disk in?
Dvd-Video (Vob files in the VIDEO_TS folder) or
Dvd-Vr mode (no vob's, just one large file).
Or maybe the Dvd+VR mode (has vob's).

What are the properties of the video if you right click on it and select properties...
How was the disk created, in a dvd recorder? What make?

I've been importing dvd's and haven't experienced this audio problem as of yet. The audio on my dvd's is dolby 2 channel or lpcm.
Standard recording mode ntsc framesize 720x480 or 704x480.
