New Instalation

Post by Rich2Putt »

I will be re-installing windows 7. I am currently using VSX3 and have the original upgrade disk.

Will I be able to install vsx3 upgrade? I understand I need the previous version of vs installed. I do have all my vs disks since the trial version back in 2004.

I am also contemplating upgrading to the current vsx5, but not sure when vsx6 should be out with-in the next couple of months.

Regards,
Rich

You do not need to install any previous versions - at worst VS may ask you to put the previous disc in the drive while it checks it - but on the later versions you do not appear to need the discs even - just the previous serial number to put in when asked - just check that you are putting in the serial numbers in the correct order as prompted - some users just put in the new number when asked for the previous one and then complain the serial number isn't working.

...And we have no idea when the next version of VS will be released. But on past experience, new versions appear on a roughly annual basis. So work backwards to when X5 was first released and make your estimate from that....
