Trim all clips

Post by sharanmini »

Hello All,
I shoot vacation video with out tripod and at the beginning of each clip, I have shaky video because of pressing the record button.
Same apply to end of the clip when I stop the recording.

How can I trim beginning and end of the clip for first one second length?

I have Video Studio X5 and the video format is AVCHD (Canon HF S200).

Well, if you want it to be exactly one second, then you would need to expand the timeline to its full capacity, then count 25 frames if your video is PAL or 30 if NTSC, and cut there. But personally, I would just move slider to a point where the shake ends and make the cut there.

Thanks for the reply Ken.

Rightnow I do trim each clip that takes long time, I want to trim all the clips at onetime with key combination.

Select all and trim for begin and end.

You should not need to be in that situation. Your camera has a powered image stabiliser which should take most of the shake out and, if my Canon is anything to go by, a gentle squeeze of the button is enough to stop and start the video.
Have you considered a monopod if a tripod is too heavy or cumbersome? There are hiking poles that have camera mounts built in. Alternatively there are a number of hand held or shoulder mounts that would hold the camera steady.

You could experiment and select all the clips (Ctrl + A) and see if you can trim globally - I have my doubts that it will work.

With editing the trimming process is primarily used to tell the story and remove excess footage so each trim operation becomes unique to that clip. Trimming is used to make the overall video more "snappy" and may also be used to fit the video to a music track.

Your best bet is to get rid of the problem at source and review how you support your camera. I find my monopod is especially useful in this respect.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I also use the remote control which came with my Canon to start and stop the camcorder or do a zoom, when using a tripod...
