Activation problem

Post by Desertsweeper »

I have been a loyal Corel user from their very first days. I always upgrade VideoStudio as they become available. Recently my laptop died as a result of beer spillage. I went out and purchased an identical laptop and moved the hard-drive from the toasted unit to the new, in order to save my many and expensive applications. Everything went well except my VideoStudio X5 suddenly reverted to demo mode, insisting I must activate it. I cannot enter the key as that option is greyed out. Whenever I try to activate it tells me the number of times I have activated the product has been exceeded. Customer support told me to just uninstall and reinstall but that didn’t help at all - still requesting activation. I have re-installed X4 in the meantime but am missing mweb output.

I know this will sound as though I am trying to pass the buck, but activation matters are not something this forum can deal with. They relate solely to Corel's customer service or tech support. Hopefully someone who has had a similar problem might be able to offer a more practical solution, but I can only suggest you go back to Corel and tell them what has happened. Other than that, I would personally do a full search of the Registry and wipe out any reference you can find to X5.

That must have been a rather expensive beer!!!
