Missing audio on a captured file.

Post by wa4ywm »

I am using Movie Factory 5 on an XP machine.

I am having an audio issue. In searching the forum I have found some discussion concerning this but it usually involves something slightly different from what I have experienced or there is a misunderstanding regarding the writer's problems.

Please note 2 things:
1. I have been successfully using this software to create dozens of DVDs from video captured from a VCR.
2. I can hear the captured audio as I am capturing. Thus the sound card is processing the audio.

Suddenly I have no audio on a captured video file. I have played the file in Movie Factory using the Preview option and I have played it with Media Player but there is no audio.

I am not aware that I have changed a setting in Movie Factory that would create this problem.

I am using the MPEG Setting - HQ 4:3 to get 60 min on a 4.7GB DVD. The audio is LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo as a result of this selection.

Obviously I have changed something that caused this to happen but I don't know what. How can I troubleshoot this issue? The only place I see to make an audio selection is the MPEG setting as I detailed above.

How can you lose the audio on the captured file? Remember that this has been working for years.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
