PSPX3 deactivation
Hello,
My old computer encountered issues, so I built a new one and bought PSPX5 for it. I'd like to install the X3 on my laptop, but it complains about activation. I've tried calling the local support phone, only to have to listen to an almost unintelligible recording that gave no useful information. I've also browsed through the support website, but haven't found any way of submitting a question regarding this issue.
So, how do I deactivate it to be able to install it on the other computer? I bought it from the internet and used the same downloaded file to install it, but that and the serial are not enough. This seems to me like yet another way of making the life of paying customers unnecessarily difficult.

hi Nichoak
You seem to have used already all activation keys. If so, then you need to contact the technical support on www.corel.com/support.
Because we have only a 90 days warranty support, you would need to buy a support ticket.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
You are using the plural "keys", yet I have only ever installed the software once on one computer? How many activation keys came with a PSP X3? The program did complain about needing activation many times, but then it always activated without issues when I clicked "activate". I assumed it was a bug of some sort.
In all seriousness, having taken the effort to call the support phone and register an account here to post the question, only to find out that it's all in vain and that I have to pay to move a piece of bought and paid software from one computer to another computer of the same paying customer, I can't help being reminded of this.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
Nichoak - as a fellow PSP customer and not a Corel employee, I totally agree with you. You should not have to pay again for simple activation help on a new computer. My suggestion would be to call Corel again, try to connect with a person live and explain what happened. I can't imagine it's that difficult for them to reset your activation. Good luck.

That's why I always buy a disk version, there is no limit on the number of times you can install.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
Thanks for the reply. I tried calling 5 times, but no matter what options I selected, the recording would just give some useless information and hang up.Kathy_9 wrote:Nichoak - as a fellow PSP customer and not a Corel employee, I totally agree with you. Should've done that, at least the X5 is a disk version.ADonahoo wrote:That's why I always buy a disk version, there is no limit on the number of times you can install.
Oh well, I'm fully confident in my own ability to make it work without Corel's help, if need be

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
@ Kathy_9
It is not as easy as you think. PSP users under XP had no problem. They activated once, never changed the system and hardware and came 4 years later back that they had to reinstall XP and they would need a activation key. That was key number 2 out of 5 (the default limit).
Today, users need regularly new keys. The reason is not that they have installed the program on 5 different machines. No, they never disabled the User Account Control or they change permanently hardware. I don't know how they do it. None of my downloads has ever asked for a second activation on my Vista at home.
PSPX3 is officially not longer supported, and since X4, we don't need to activate PSP.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
Does post-X4 not requiring activation mean that there is no creepy Protexis service running in the background? I haven't had the time to check that yet.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
Since X4, the download version works like a CD version and will not ask for an activation.

Re: PSPX3 deactivation
Thank you, now everything seems to be in order.
Versions after X3 still have the Protexis service installed with them. Is it possible to use PSP on a computer that has no internet connection?
