Pro X2 - Corrupted screen in Create Disk?

Post by David Ellis »

Hi (and Happy New Year),

I am trying to use Video Studio Pro X2 to create a DVD on my new Windows 7 PC. I have produced the project file (95 minutes) and am now ready to burn the disk.
I have used the software before on my old PC (Windows XP) with no problems.
From the "Share" menu I selected Create Disk and DVD.

I am trying to amend the Project Settings in order that the project file (lasting 95 minutes) fits nicely on a 4.7Gb Disk. I have set-up a Disk Template (which should hopefully produce a file about the right size) and want to select that template for my project. The problem I am having is that when I select Create Disk, the Project Settings button is not displayed, so I cannot select the template I have set-up. The Project Settings button should sit just to the right of the Settings and Options button on the bottom left of the screen, just under the main panel (according to page 146 in the manual), but on my screen (see image attached) all I can see is the Settings and Options button, and then a half-obscurred "Next" button (which should sit on the right of the page, but on my page it is on the left, partly hidden by the Settings and Options button). There is also no "Close" or "Change Display aspect ratio" buttons visible too, which are shown in the manual, but don't appear on my screen.

This is the first time I have used VS Pro X2 on my new Windows 7 PC - it worked fine on my old XP machine and I have never had this problem before. I am now using Windows 7 (64 bit version).
I have tried doing a "Repair" to Pro X2 using Control Panel, but this has made no difference...I am still getting this corrupted page without the very button I need to change template.
Has anyone any idea what the issue is, or can suggest any other way I can create a file that is about the right size to fit on a 4.7Gb blank Disk.

Thanks,

David.

Hi David

Corel Video Studio X2 (VS12) is not fully compatible with Windows 7, Corel provided a patch – Service pack 2, have you installed this pack

http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1300014

OK
Close the burner module and go back to the timelines, change the project properties to use Mpeg types, set the bit rate/Data rate to 6000kbps variable, use Digital Dolby for the audio.

Save the project, then Share Create Disc, the project properties should be used as the render settings, the green size bar should now be all green.
If there is any yellow reduce the bit rate below 6000kbps.

Using a Thumbnail or Text menu will use less memory than Smart Menus, allowing more space for the video.

Excellent - I hadn't downloaded the Windows 7 support patch, and now all is working. Many thanks!

The only niggle remaining is that I have 3 small MP4 files in my project timeline (filmed on my mobile phone) and for some reason although they play fine on the clip, the audio doesn't come out on the Project, or on the finished DVD, which is a real pain...94 minutes of good DVD and 45 seconds of silence! If there was no audio at all I could understand it, but the clips all play fine except when I play them under Project, and then there is no audio.

My original DV files are MPEG Audio Layer 2 files - 48000Hz, 16 Bit Stereo - bitrate 224kbps
The MP4 clips are MPEG AAC Audio files - 48000Hz, 16 Bit Stereo - bitrate 113kbps

I expect the bit rate is the problem, but no idea why it's a problem or how to resolve.

Please don't double post. It only creates confusion.

Since you have resolved your problem in this thread, I am going to lock it, so that answers to your audio question will be restricted to your other thread on that subject.
