Corel Paintshop Pro X5 Ultimate - Install Error

Post by rockingkurt »

Hello,

I'm from Germany and I try to write in English. My Son has downloaded a trial version from Corel Paintshop Pro X5 Ultimate from this Link. It was a trial Version for 30 days.

http://www.corel.com/corel/product/inde ... ageCode=de

He bought a Box-Version of Corel PaintShop Pro X5 Ulitmate from Amazon. It is a new, original Box with 2 CD and a Registration Key from Corel.

I have an Install-Problem with this Product:
1. When he want's to Install the new Product, he put the CD in the Device and started the Setup-File.
2. A grey Window opened with the proceeding status.
3. A second Window opened and shows an Error. I will try to translate this Error:
"Your System has not been changed. To perform the installation at another time, please run the setup again. :x :evil: :x

I have tried the following steps:
1. My Son has deinstallated the trial Version (System Settings - Software - Deinstallation)
2. Delete the Corel Keys in the Registration (Regedit), Search after "Corel" and "Paintshop" with Shortkey F3.

I haven't any sucess. Who can help me?

Thank you & Greets from Germany

Just a thought - did he re-boot the computer after uninstalling the trial version? Sometimes that is necessary to complete the de-installation.

A small number of users have had similar problems. One suggestion which seems to work is to create a new user profile on your computer with Administrative privileges, then use that profile to install PSP. If that works, you can later delete that new profile.

Simply start the installed trial version and enter your registration key into it.

Good morning from Germany,

firstival a big Thankx for your requests.

@photodrawken:
We have tried your suggestion. It doesn't work :-(.

@Ken Berry:
We have also tried your suggestion; we created an new Admin-Profile. Changed the Profile. The Result : Nothing, Nada, Njente. It doesn't work, too.

@Kathy_9:
After testing the 30-days-trial-version my son de-installed the trial-version. The download was in November; the end of testing-time was in December. So in the meantime the PC was booted several times.

Any other ideas?

Does somebody know, if Corel has a removal tool (similar like mcafee)? With this tool you can remove rest-files of the installation, which are not included by the normal de-install-routine?

Hello,

thankx for your answers. I'm rather sure to find a solution.

My Son and i will try it in the next days. In two days school and my work is beginning and that's a little bit more important :wink:
First we must "translate" it in german to follow the in english described steps. So the soultion takes time.

I will answer and describe what happend.

Good evening from Germany,
i've been thinking - perhaps someone knows another answer:

It seems logical, that the "de-installation" from the trial-version has left some Files, a Folder or an Item in one or more Files on the HDD.

1. Who can describe which File, Folder or Item must be deleted or changed that the PC "allows" the Installation? How is it possible to force the PC to install the Programm?

2. User "lata" shows in the second Link of his posting a Guide; in this Guide a "grey Status Monitor" is shown. When the PC copies the Install-Files from the CD and the grey Status Monitor appears with the Status-Bar, in this Time the Error-Window appears too.
The PC copies the Files completly; the Status-Bar ist working, but the Error-Window is in Front of the Status-Bar. Whe the PC finished the copiing of the Files, the PC doesn't react. The only Way to force a Reaction ist to quit the Error-Window with OK and every Window from the Installation will be closed.

3. I have tried to install with another Setup-Mode from the CD; it doesn't work too.

4. I tried the CD in my Laptop; it works well, If i wanted to, i could install the Programm well; but i hadn't installed Corel-Software an my Laptop.

The instructions for manually uninstalling PSPX5 list all the files, folders, and registry entries to do that.

Hello at all!

I tried the suggestion from User "lata", to remove the rest-files of the Installation.

What should i say?

It works. I must delete the last Registry-Keys and then i could install the Software.

Now my son is happy, and I'm a Super-Dad :D

Thank you for your help.
