NO VIDEO

I don't get any video when I try to capture using Videostudio 5.0 or Windows movie maker or Ulead Videostudio 9.0 trial version. Any suggestion?
I believe I have deleted an important file somehow. Have reinstalled service pack 2 and directx 9.0 also reinstalled any video capture software I could find. None of them have video. Thanks

Run DXDIAG.EXE and select all the tests in the Video tab to make sure the DirectShow subsystem is working correctly. Also make sure that the Preview target in UVS is set to the Preview window, and not a dualhead or DV device, or the preview could be sent to a non-existing / not connected device.
