I updated Corel AfterShot Pro to version 1.1.0.30. for windows.
In the Release notes for the update it says that it added additional camera and lens support for the Sony Rx100.
Well,...it didn´t. Although colours for the Rx100 Raw files are quite correctly interpreted now, there is no lens distortion correction (and the Rx100 needs it). My updated copy of Corel AfterShot at least does not do any. No correction is done for the Raw files (which is very notable for photos taken with the lens set at the shortest focal distances for the camera).

Same issue for my Panasonic G3 micro4/3rd's. You are expected to use the manual correction feature with the appropriate controls.

Re: AfterShot version 1.1.0.30 and the Sony RX100
Thank you Afx and Denis for your inputs.
I am in a stage of my life where I want computer programs to make my life and work easier. I am tired of having to devote time to computer programs, I want them to work for me, not the other way around.
I have PTLens which update already included lens correction for the RX100. I can always develop with AfterShot, convert to tiff, then make the lens correction with PTLens and then load the tiff file to any other photo editing program. By the time being, and editing my tiff files with either Corel PaintShop (very nice program as other Corel programs are) or Serif Photo Plus.
But even better, I can (as I normally do) develop my raw files with DxO Optics Pro. They also have already included lens correction for the RX100 in their latest update. I bought AfterShot because I tried it and liked it, not because I really needed it though I have been enjoying using it (till now and certainly not to develop my raw files form my recently bought RX100).
I prefer to work with a lens calibration made by professionals rather than working and making my one. I would have liked Corel to (and I still hope they might) include lens distortion correction for the RX100 (which is a quite nice and rather expensive camera for being a compact, not just any other). After Shot is supposed to be a serious program specialized for raw files development, and thinking of it as that that is what I would have expected (still expect) from the developers of such a program.

Corel fired the original developers and has not updated any camera support since then.Alejandro wrote:After Shot is supposed to be a serious program specialized for raw files development, and thinking of it as that that is what I would have expected (still expect) from the developers of such a program.

I bought one of these little marvels and this lens profile seems to work well enough, although it's early days:

Re: AfterShot version 1.1.0.30 and the Sony RX100
Thank you afx for your answer. Very honest (crudely honest).
The problem with the RX100 is that it is a great camera, but needs some heavy lens distortion corrections for some of the focal distances of its zoom. Anyway, I am mostly using DxO to develop my raw files.
As I said before, to edit my tiff files (to which I convert my raw files) I am using PaintShop Pro a lot. I have just updated to version x5 from x4. I was not very comfortable with the way in which one had to create a gradient filter with PaintShop x4, but the improvement or new way of working with gradients in version x5 is fine. Other improvements have also been made / added. Therefore, I am not exited with AfterShot update, but I turned out to be very happy with the PaintShop update.
Ferdinand,
Thank you very much for you input. I will try those profiles.
