GIF Animator 5.5 won't run on my Windows 2003 Server
I'm trying to run the TRIAL, ...
It starts and then disappears in 2 seconds.
Any help here?

I can’t find anything that would indicate why the Trial will not install. Perhaps the software does not install on a Server due to Volume License restrictions. Are you trying to install on a Workstation or directly to the Server? I assume you have administrator Privilege. Were there any Error messages of any kind from the GA or the O?

Now we are getting to the heart of the matter!
There are two major problems with GIF Animator. Autoexec.NT and uvavi.vio. The first stops installation, the second stops program execution.
There are no updats or patches to correct these problems.
Post from Goat_187:
Solution or Workaround:
Delete or rename uvavi.vio file in the "<Program Install Path>\VIO" folder with the extension of .old or .bak.
However, features related to AVI file would be lost.

There you are! You didn’t answer my last post; don’t let the local Cyber-Sheriff Heinz-oz scare you off, he means well!! He's a good guy when you get to know him better.
In all seriousness, Ulead put this Forum here so guys like us could do all of their work for them, cheap and instant Tech Support, it is what many Companies have to do now. So, I would say, from my experience they will not do anything, unless you complain directly to Tech Support. The more complaints lodged the more likely they are to fix the problem, if no one complains they have no reason to fix anything.
Some of the module components of GIF are still working in 16 bit mode, such as the older mpeg 1 codex for AVI processing. They work on most systems, but for some reason they won’t work on others.
Oh! by the way, “I am not the father of Ulead,” but I do have a daughter!

Here are the following Codec that Microsoft XP SP1 is compatible with, many included with installation, couldn’t find anything on SP2. According to Microsoft, if you are unable to load a video, or loading a video causes a crash, one of the four may have occurred:
1. Missing codecs
2. Disabled or damaged codecs
3. Conflicts between 16-bit and 32-bit codecs
4. Newly installed Third Party Audio or Video card software altered or corrupted codecs.
List of Codecs (16 bit are included with 32 bit):
Cinepak codec
ClearVideo Decoder Driver
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec
Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec for MSACM
Intel Audio Codec
Intel I.263 Video Driver
Intel Indeo 3.0 Video Codec
Intel Indeo 5.0 Video Codec
Intel Indeo(R) Video Interactive 32-bit Driver
Intel RAW YVU9 Video Driver
Lernout And Hauspie Codecs
Microsoft MPEG-4 Standard Video Codec
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v1
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v2
Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec v3
Microsoft Network Audio CODEC
Microsoft Screen Video Decompressor
Microsoft Windows Media Video v7
Microsoft Windows Media Video v8
Sharp G.726 Audio Codec
Sipro Lab Audio Telecom CODEC (Acelp)
Streaming Animation Support
Vivo H.263 Video CODEC
Vivo Siren Audio CODEC
VivoActive Audio CODEC
Voxware MetaSound
Voxware MetaVoice
Windows Media Audio Codec
I do not have Media Player installed, nor do I find the AVI or VIVO codec installed on my system. I still use a 1995 graphics program to create AVI Flipbooks, and Mpeg Videos that GIF Animator opens without problem. Maybe this will be helpful to some.
