AppCrash

Post by vinodmehta »

Hi:

Since yesterday I started having problem with "AppCrash" - when loading new images in Timeline and start project view, after 3-4 clips, I get this message and VS5X freezes. MESSAGE:

"THIS PROGRAM HAS ENCOUNTERED AN UPSPECIFIED ERROR AND STOPPED FUNCTIONING"
PLS. CONTACT COREL TECH SUPPORT AND SEND DUMP FILE FOR ANALYSIS"
C:\USER\VINOD\APPDATA\LOCAL\TEMP\VIDEOSTUDIO\15.1.0.34_3420121229_161725.dmp

After getting these messages, I restart my PC and load different images and happened again. Then I opened pre saved VSP project, it worked. I am wondering is this problem for some images that caused or something else?

I tried to open the details for the error message.
Problem event name : AppCrash
Appl. name: vstudio.exe etc.
Fault module name: u32jpg.fio. There are more details but chose to share a few to give you some clues of the error.

If someone has experienced this situation, pls. advise.

Thanks.

I assume, from that error msg, that the images you loaded were jpegs. But if possible, could you right click on one of those images either in the VS library window, or if it does not crash, in the timeline, and copy all the properties of the jpegs here. In the past, some users have experienced problems with certain types of jpeg, especially the jpeg2000 format...

I guess one thing you could try would be to convert some or all of the images to another format and try inserting them in the same project....

Was there any installation of other software made prior to getting this? Perhaps a system restore would also be an option.

Ken and gavind:

Ken:

Thanks. For ex. I checked properties of the two images where I had the error message. They both were taken with the same camera in a sequence within few seconds . Both images has the same file format - jpeg including other properties. No Jpeg2000 format.
I can't figure it out the real issue. This error only come up with some pictures unfortunately, you would never know until you try to load on timeline. I prefer not to save all the pictures (1000 +) per travel in a different format to avoid this problem.

gavind: I have Roxio pro 11 and Adobe element/premier 10 which were installed before VX5 was installed.

Regards and Happy New Year.

You could also try re-saving the problem photos as jpeg with, say, your Roxio suite -- I think it has a module which will do it. If not, then Windows Paint should be able to do it too...
