PSP X3?

Post by StanM »

I purchased PSP3 in November of 2010 and had to do a reinstall of Windows OS last week. I saved the PSP 3 install files and product key on a CD as I always do whenever purchasing a program online. Unfortunately the program will not install from the CD and when I attempted to locate the download on the Corel site they've had two new versions since then and the X3 download no longer appears. I have used PSP since before Corel bought the rights to the PSP name and, in fact, still have a workable copy of PSP 8. When I installed X3 I found that I still preferred PSP 8 and continued to use it for the past two years. My photo creations include artwork with layers so I'm at an advanced level compared to the average consumer touching up photos and that's what attracted me to the original PSP.

During the past couple years that I have had X3 I ended up not using it and wanted to install it and give it a try. I'm guessing that Corel is going to force me to purchase an updated version even though I probably didn't use X3 for an hour the entire two years I owned it. So my question is will my product key I got with my X3 purchase work with X4 or X5 or would I have to purchase an upgrade? It looks like they've got something built into their X3 software so that a reinstall from CD will no longer work. In retrospect I should have purchased the CD and probably would still be able to install it. I can't afford to spend another $100 or whatever it cost so I'll probably shy away from purchasing anymore Corel products. At the very least I should still be able to install the version I purchased.

Was the PSP X3 purchased a disk version or a download version?
I read it as you have a download version and then saved the downloaded file to a CD and are now trying to install from that CD. Have you tried to move the files to the computer first and then try the install without the CD. I suspect that in the install process from a download version it tries to do something which requires a check of a write operation and as it is on a CD that fails. (The CD version may not use the same process)
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Something else you can try if you purchased a download version. Click on the "Corel Store" link at the top of this forum and sign in to your account. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "See All Orders" link in the "Your Order Status and History" section. Next locate your X3 order and download from there.

Dropping the files in a folder and installing from the system worked. I thought I had seen everything during my computer building but never had this happen before. Thanks for the suggestion.
