firstly, hope all has a geat time over the Christmas period and best wishes for 2013.
Not sure this is the forrect firum for my issue but is is X5 that is the point so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong place.
Now onto the issue. following a mains spike my PC died a death, the PSU went bang and destroyed the motherboard, hard drives and left me with a wreck. Thankfully the electric company who caused the spike paid up. so now to get me a new PC.
For those using VS X5, what would you say would be a good spec for running this in HD?
Coral say a duel core 1.8GHz with 2G RAM but I'm looking to build a quad core (AMD?) 4G RAM with Win 7 image load. Hard drives I have (2x2TB).
Any thoughts on this would be gratefully appreciated.
Have a great time and best wishes for 2013.

Re: computer spec for VideoStudio X5
Print off the minimum computer spec from the User Manual p5/6 and take it to your local friendly dealer - tell them you will accept no less!
I did this and it worked a treat.
Seriously if you look at the specs beside the posts, they will give you an idea of what is required. I stayed with Windows 7 (64 bit) but VSx5 will run under Windows 8.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: computer spec for VideoStudio X5
I recommend a 3rd-generation Intel Core i7, which is pretty much the top-of-the-line for home computers. I don't know where you are, but a 3rd-gen i7 desktop computer goes for around $600 in the US and laptops start at $750 or so. In addition, I recommend Windows 7 (if you can get it), 8GB RAM, a graphics card with CUDA capability, and as large a hard drive as you can afford. I also recommend at least one USB 3.0 port, so that the computer can work with the fastest external hard drives.
To be honest, that's way more than you need for x5, but a faster computer means that things will work more quickly and you'll have a more pleasant editing experience. It also means that your computer isn't likely to become too slow to run the next couple of generations of VideoStudio.
Happy shopping!
