Hi all,
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to VSX5.
A couple of niggling questions:
1. Is it stable, does it crash a lot?
2. Can I create subtitles just like a commercial DVD where the user can enable/disable them from the remote?
3. Is the DVD authoring module flexible enough to let me create my own DVD menus without having to use depend on a template (like in VSx3 with Movie Studio SE).
I'll be running it on Win7 64bit with 16Gb RAM.
Thanks for any feedback.

Re: VS X5 - worth upgrading?
Depends a great deal on what version you have now - you mention X3 - if that is what you have then YES an upgrade is worthwile.
1. for me it is very stable - but all versions always have been for me - if you have doubts download the free trial and see what it does for you.
2. it can create subtitles - but not that you can access by the remote - why not download the free trial and see what it does.
3. the DVD authoring module is back in VideoStudio where it always was before and since - menus are fully customisable - have a look at this video for some ideas :-

Re: VS X5 - worth upgrading?
Thanks Brian,
Would you happen to know if it will co-exist with VSx3 on the same hard drive?
Lastly, what essentially is different between Ultra and Pro?
Is it just the extra video effects and filters?
Thanks again.

Yes I currently have four versions on my computer - all working - as long as you don't try to open more than one at a time there is no problem.
The Pro and the Pro Ultimate programmes are identical and both work exactly the same - but with the Ultimate version you get some additional filters and effects from Pro-Dad - there is a matrix here which shows the differences between the last three versions :-

Re: VS X5 - worth upgrading?
I just upgraded from X3 to X5 (whole new install actually, it didn't replace the X3) and it is a worthwhile upgrade if you like the Corel interface. The main reason I did it was because the new one had the mercalli stabilization included that I wanted to try, which seems to work pretty good. I had swore off Corel but decided to try X5 since I got it dirt cheap on a promotion when I upgraded my Paint Shop Pro version (which I really like)
Having said that, I had stopped using X3 because of constant crashes and annoying clicks when adding mp3 audio tracks and started using Sony Vegas. Vegas was much harder to get used to as it wasn't quite as "intuitive" but once I got used to it I find it SO much better than Corel and much more powerful. The pro version however is quite pricey, but the consumer versions are quite reasonable and only lack a few of the higher end features on the more expensive versions. I'd strongly suggest trying one of their trials and see how you like it.
