(corel x5) No option for video in 640x360 (widscreen)?

Post by vakata »

hello from Greece,

I own the video cebtric site (www.judo.com.gr) which is judo related and i have over 5000 videos in stanrdard and h.d. quality. I want to resolve the issue below so i can buy the product and use it without problems.
I download the trial version of video studio x5........tried to export my recorded video in the size 640x360 but this wasn't possible.....no option at all. I am wondering how i can do that....any ideas?
When i insert a .mp4 video the option ''same as project'' is on and when i make convrsion the result is ok like the original. When i record a video and try to export ''same as project'' the option is off and i can't do my wishing size 640x360.
I tried all the ways but no result.
Thank you in advance
Regards

What are you wanting to do with the movies? I would have thought you would be playing them on your computer...

Anyway, have you tried making a custom template using Settings > Make Movie Template Manager. On the first dialogue box which appears, click New and select MPEG-4 as the format, then give the new template a name. A new dialogue box will appear. Select the Compression tab and change the Video Type to H.264 baseline. Then on the general tab you will find that one of the Standard Sizes is 640 x 360. Click OK to close that dialogue box then Close to close the first one. Next time you go to Share > Create Video File, your new template should appear down at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

hey Ken,
Thank you very much for your reply. To be more specific in what i want to do: I want to record judo fights and after that to be able to export the video in .mp4 format in 640x360 resolution. Is it possible?
And a second question if i record a competition is there time limit for that with the specific software? I am asking because i want to be able to record 3-4 hours continually. Thank you in advance.

Well, I have given you a detailed explanation of how you make a customised template for exporting your mp4's... Have you tried to follow those instructions?

As for your second question, there is no time limit as such. But 3 - 4 hours of video will be a very large file for any editing program to have to deal with in one piece, regardless of the original format it is in. I assume you just want to be able to set up a camera to record continuously several consecutive fights, and not have to bother about turning the camera off after one fight and back on for the next.

But yes, it is possible -- though personally I would put the 3 - 4 hour video into the VS timeline, and quickly cut it into smaller videos, one for each fight. Then save each as a separate project. That will make things less complicated and less demanding on your computer resources.
