Re: Blending & Composit Modes
What exactly do you mean by blending and composit modes in relation to videos - these are terms I associate with still images - can you be more precise about what you want to do ?

Actually, I want to take away the black background of an image with the blending mode, can I do that with VideoStudio?

Re: Blending & Composit Modes
and what will be left when you take away the black background, you are not helping me to help you.
a background can be removed in VideoStudio by various means - one of which is chroma keying - but I still do not know what you mean by "blending"

Re: Blending & Composit Modes
I suspect he means blending the image he has removed the background from, with another video providing the new "background" ... in other words, chroma keying as you have already suggested.
johuacyclo -- you put the main video in the main video track. Then you put the the clip with the black background in one of the overlay tracks. Click on the Mask/Chroma Key button, as in the image (red arrow). Then on the next screen which appears, tick the box "Apply Overlay Options". You will probably see a black colour in the little box which is the colour you want to remove. Clicking on the Apply Overlay Options will probably have already removed all of the black, but you can adjust the "Similarity" slider up or down from its default figure to fine tune the overlay.

I think Gripps did a tutorial showing gun flares.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Blending & Composit Modes
While you can certainly chroma key in something like that muzzle flash using the chroma keying I outlined above, the extra things like adding background highlights on hands and bodies, as in that video, might not be possible with VS. It is nowhere near as sophisticated (or expensive) as After Effects, which was used in that linked video. It might be possible with VS, but I for one wouldn't know how to do it apart from using one of the VS FX filters such as the Lens Flare one. Not sure that that would allow the kind of restricted area effect in After Effects, but it could at least be localised on the body and key-framed to synchronise with the gun flash.

Re: Blending & Composit Modes
I took a quick look at Boris Graffiti, which comes with VideoStudio X5 Ultimate. There are plenty of compositing modes. You could most likely achieve all kinds of effects with that plug-in.
MotionStudio 3D 1.0; Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X7 (w/o sp1) (Download), Corel PaintShop Pro 15.2.0.12 (Download)
