That is standard practice. What should they do instead? Build a new version and release it without going through any test phase?

The built in sharpening has less artifacts.
But overall, it is slower on most systems than the pre-OpenCL releases.

So two months after releasing this as a beta they promote this to official. With no change in-between. No new cameras apart from those that where done in the first half of the year by the original team.
Brilliant.

The US Server shows the update, the German Server does not at the moment.

Slower? I've come to a screeching halt! I've gone from an average of the last four years of 1.5-2.5 seconds converting a raw file to a 15Mb jpeg to 16.5-16.8 seconds whether open cl enabled or not. My nvidia drivers are the latest and ASP recognizes my card. No open cl, slow, med or fast it's all 16+ seconds. I have 5 files in batch at one time set and was testing 5 files at a time. I didn't try the beta because so many of you reported problems but figured new release would be ok.
Any ideas before I uninstall this new version and go back to the old? Everthing but converting seems to work fine. Thank you.

Laughable.
2 months where the neither the OpenCL issues reported where fixed nor new cams where added.

This is just a futile attempt to show some public progress to those that have not been following their blunders in the forum.

Just make sure there is no preset in the queue that triggers this.

Nevermind that the RPM file released as non-beta was terribly packaged. It will not upgrade a previously installed version because the version and release tags were removed.

]# rpm -Uvh ./AfterShotPro_1.1.0.30_i386.rpm
Preparing... ################################# [100%]
package AfterShotPro-174:1.0-1.10.i386 (which is newer than AfterShotPro-174:0.0-0.0.i386) is already installed
]# rpm -qi AfterShotPro
Name : AfterShotPro
Epoch : 174
Version : 1.0
Release : 1.10
<snip>
]# rpm -qpi ./AfterShotPro_i386.rpm
Name : AfterShotPro
Epoch : 174
Version : 0.0
Release : 0.0
<snip>
Build Date : Sat 20 Oct 2012 08:08:39 AM PDT
[...]

Why would they remove the version and release numbers? Of course RPM will not "upgrade" to a lower version number (0.0)... Was there no QA on this?

For Linux RPM users who want to know how to upgrade, you will have to uninstall ("rpm -e AfterShotPro") and then install ("rpm -ivh ./AfterShotPro_i386.rpm") OR "rpm -Uvh --oldpackage ./AfterShotPro_i386.rpm". Strange since there is only 1 file added to the new installation. There is no (non-sinister) reason to force an uninstall.

To an experienced Linux user, Corel looks incompetent. To an inexperienced Linux user, Linux will look difficult.

You may laugh sarcastically but for me this was the last straw! I bought Bibble s/w because I admired the expertise and innovation that comes with a small team of enthusiastic programmers and was prepared for slow progress. Unfortunately this expectation was doomed, probably because of a lack of cash flow into Bibble at the time and so they sold out to Corel who promptly 'trimmed' the outgoing cash flow by dispensing with the only expert ex Bibble staff! As AFX stated at that time this expertise is not easily transferable and it would take a long time to replace.

So now we have a new release but sadly it shows no apparent change to the previous beta and marginal change to the last full release last April. I fail to understand why OpenCL became a priority especially as the s/w was already very fast. With OpenCL enabled on my system it results in slower performance but the last straw was when disabling OpenCL is was still 4 times slower than the previous release! Eight months development equates to nothing and things are even worse than before they started! My trust and hope in Corel has finally evaporated as this release demonstrates an out of control development team if it even exists.

So goodbye AfterShot and hello LR4.

Windows 7 64bit: Slower performances and no performance at all with some plugins: I went back to older version. Thank you Corel.
Till that moment, i was (very) satisfied with ASP , I wonder if it will go on..

Where are we supposed to download the 1.1.0.30 from ?
Whatever link I click (topmost of this topic or via the infobox when launching ASP), it leads to a page that states V. 1.0.1! :(
Anyway, I wish everyone here a merry Christmas. 8)

Corel isn't even capable of syncing their sites worldwide.
Why is every bit I see from those guys yet another indication of incompetence?

You have to switch the web page to English and use the US server.

It's very strange... :? I installed 1.1.0.30 and it runs fast on my system. Just now I've measured the RAW conversion speed of AfterShot Pro 1.1.0.30 (with OpenCL set to "minimum") and compared it with Adobe Lightroom 4.3 (64-bit build). Several (six) RAW files were converted to 16-bit uncompressed TIFFs with Noise Ninja enabled (in AfterShot Pro) and chroma noise reduction enabled with default settings (in Lightroom). AfterShot Pro 1.1.0.30 wins with 16.9 sec (Lightroom 4.3 result is 20 sec). My hardware is listed in the profile, OS is Windows 8 Pro x64 with all updates installed, nVidia driver revision is 306.97.

O.K. I checked my batch queue for presets etc. as afx advised and no change from previous version. I lowered my % quality and still slow. I then converted unedited files and voila! 3.16sec/image compared to 16+sec/edited image with open cl enabled at medium setting. I used Bez, Wavelet Sharpen, S Contrast and the blacks slider in basic on these images so one of them must be the culprit. I seem to remember someone posting about plugin problems in the beta but can't locate the post(s). Do I need to update any plugins or do an uninstall/install on them or maybe even the new version of ASP? Thank you.

Make sure all are updated. The AS plugin manager from andreas is very helpful for that.
