Background Audio

Post by OurMemoriesinMotion »

Hey!
I am creating a "year in review" for a local fire company. I am trying to set up Video Studio Pro X5 so that when there is audio in the video clips the background music lowers in volume so that I don't drown out the audio in the video. How do I do this?

Thanks!

It cannot be done automatically - you need to do it manually.

have a look at this Tutorial which will guide you through the basics :-

You need to use the Sound Mixer function. Under the edit window is an icon that looks like an audio waveform... well, sorta. If you hover your cursor over it, it will say "Sound Mixer." Click on it, and it will display audio waveforms on the timeline.

To lower the music when you want to hear something else, highlight the music track. Then -- carefully -- click on the thin horizontal line in the audio track to set a "node" where you want the music to reduce in volume. With a node set, you can drag it up or down to change the volume. The reality is that you will have to set LOTS of nodes to let the music track fade up and down as necessary. It is a fiddly process, but that's how you do it.

Thanks! You'd think Corel would have made that a tad easier.... LoL! Other editors I've used I could set a preset so the audio would go to say 50% when videos were introduced. Corel, if you are listening, add this to the next update. :)

What other editors do this? I certainly woyld not want that by default preferring to adjust manually they way I want it.

Proshow Producer allows you to set a percentage of the track volume when played over another audio clip. You have the ability to then go in and manually set it but it's one less step if there is no change needed.
