I have been using VS11 for some years now and like to think I know pretty much all it can do and have had great Success -- But, I have just bought a new camera, a Panasonic HC V500.
A small section of the info on the camera are the following lines:-
2D-to-3D Conversion
The camera processing engine automatically converts your 2D footage to 3D without the need for the optional 3D lens, to then be able to view on your 3D TV for an enhanced viewing experience.
Progressive Video Format for Smooth Action
The Full HD format employed in this model uses 1080/50p (AVCHD Progressive compliant) imaging. The Progressive format carries roughly double the image information of a 1080i interlace signal, minimising flickering and after-images.
As I edit and convert all my video footage into movies, will the latest VS programme retain the 3D conversion ability/facility, if so, what is the latest (or best) VS edition to purchase.
Look forward to you response

Re: VS info re 3D
Both VS X4 and X5 can produce 3D video using the anaglyph format. However, in my personal opinion, it is not much more than a gimmick. Those I have produced don't have particularly good quality -- though I confess I was only experimenting and using the 3D glasses which came with VS. I also have no idea of whether the VS 3D format is compatible with that produced by your camcorder.
As for the 50p progressive compliant format, VS X5 can handle it, both editing and producing new footage -- though it requires a bit of a work-around to get there. But you need to be aware that neither the current international Blu-Ray standard -- and of course standard definition DVD -- does not support 50/60p video. It will be converted to 25 or 29.97 fps to burn to a Blu-Ray disc.
So if you want to play back the edited video using the full 50p, you can only do so by transferring the edited video to a USB stick or external hard drive, and then connecting that to your Blu-Ray player -- or directly to the USB slot in your HDTV, if the latter can detect and play AVCHD directly.

Re: VS info re 3D
The latest version of videostudio is VS X5 and since I do not have a camera that can convert a video in 3D, I cannot answer your question but you can find out the answer for yourself by download the trial of VS X5, since the trial is a full working version of the program.
You can go to http://pnoy.me/coreltrials to download the trial.
