Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
I've just ugraded to VS X5 - very happy, but now I'm planning to buy a laptop to supplement my desktop computer where VS is installed. I can't afford 2 VS copies, so I wondered if it might be able to move my one copy from the desktop to the new laptop & use it there instead?

You can install your version of VS X5 on your laptop AS WELL - the user agreement allows you to do that - so just install and register on your new laptop - no need to remove it from your desktop.

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
I had the same question...my problem is, I want to install VS4 pro, to my laptop, but I cant find the install on the website, everything is for VS5, where can I find the download, and when I have it downloaded, what do I do from then on? I have the serial number asigned to my desktop computer which is running Vista home premium, my laptop is Win 7, does this matter which OS I have, when I originally bought the license? Thanks.

If you want to download a previous version (such as X4) you will need to contact Corel customer support via the corel.com website at :-
http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index.jsp?pgid=800034 - with your serial number and ask for a link to download X4 again - can I strongly suggest you save that download so that it will be available if you need it again in the future - I always save all downloaded programmes to a DVD along with a text file containing the serial number so that I can just install again should I need to.
You just install on your laptop and put in the same serial number as for your desktop - it is not "assigned" to you desktop - it is assigned to the programme and you just use the same serial number for the same product. the same applies if you buy a new computer - even if it has a different OS - you just delete the programme from the old computer and install on the new computer using your serial number - again an example of when a saved downloaded programme would be useful.

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
I thought I saved the program on my External hard drive, but, when I connected the hard drive to the laptop, it wouldn't recognize it, I went to the website, and bought the Pro X5 ultimate, and downloaded it to my laptop, only to realize, I think this is the same thing on my desktop computer, and the the desktop version with the upgrade was upgraded from the X4 pro version...IDK...But what I do know is, its on both now, and spent extra money, while waiting on a response....A day late and a dollar short in this case.

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
Just got my laptop. Copied VS5 exe file via memory stick to laptop & installed it. I then registered it: it said it was the trial version. I entered the Purchase serial number & the Activation Code into the window & it said the numbers weren't correct! How do I make it work, please? What's gone wrong?

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
you said originally that you had upgraded to version X5 - does that mean that you purchased it as an upgrade version.
You seem to be saying you registered it first - I din't think you could do that I thought it had to be installed and working before you registered and that registering only required your e-mail address - not any numbers.
I am wondering if you put the wrong number in first - if it was an upgrade version the first serial number it was asking for was the serial number of the PREVIOUS version - is that what you did ? - then it would have asked for the new serial number.
might be best if you uninstalled from your laptop and started again from the beginning

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
Thank you for the prompt reply. I didn't buy an upgraded version. I had VS12, then bought X5. I downloaded the trial version originally to my desktop, then paid to buy & got the Purchase serial number & the Activation Code. I used the same numbers when I loaded it again, this time into the laptop. I'm sure, once I'd loaded it into the laptop, the registration request popped up, so I responded. I didn't use the other numbers till I closed the program & it asked me to buy it.

Hi John
If you have purchased the program twice, and you have registered both versions, then the serial numbers should be saved to your Corel Account.
Log-0n to your account and check your product details.

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
I have only purchased one copy. As you can see from my first post, I wanted to run it on my laptop & I was told I could run it on both my computers. I only have one copy, one serial number & one activation code.

Hi John
Sorry for the confusion I was reading an earlier reply from huntinghunter
Did you check your Corel Account for your serial number??
And have you tried a re-install?

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
I've just checked my Corel account - & discovered I hadn't registered my X5!!
Done now. I'll have another go on the laptop shortly, & try a re-install if registering hasn't fixed it. Thank you.
John

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
Sorry, just remembered: I used X5 yesterday on the laptop & at no time did it request that I pay. Perhaps I have successfully installed it after all! Computers can be so frustrating!!

Hi John
When you re-install, after starting Video Studio you are prompted to Register to gain access the Corel Guides, all that should be required is the E-mail address used for your Corel Account.
If you pass on the registration the program should work ok, its just the Corel Guide that you wont get.

Re: Moving Video Studio from one computer to another
Whilst using VS5 on the laptop it suddenly announced an update - SP2, ready to install - so I did, successfully. I have now tried to update the desktop copy with SP2. I looked for updates first & it said there were none. So I looked for SP2 & downloaded that. However, when I try to install it, I get the message: "The installed version of the application could no be determined. The setup will now terminate." Is it because I've updated my laptop copy already, or is it something else?
Help please.
Help please.
John.
