Hi, I have a gif image of controls for the Highslide slideshow script, which has a black background. I want to change the black to a dark brown colour, how would I do this in PI X3? I want it to be an exact colour, not just any brown.
The image is on the Highslide forum, halfway down, with the navigation controls:
http://www.highslide.com/forum/viewtopi ... rol#p57373
Here's what I tried so far - I downloaded the image off the forum, then opened it in PI X3. I then duplicated it, and then tried to save it and tried to apply a mask to the black background, but for some strange reason, that option was greyed out. I opened another random image and tried to save it as a gif, and the mask option was working again.
I tried using
Photo
Colour
Hue and Saturation
and then
Photo
Colour
Color Cast
but neither of them would make any difference to the black background. I presume this is something that a lot of people want to do, change a given colour in an image to an exact colour, to match a webpage background, so I'm praying there's a way to do it!
The colour I want is #442B00.

have you tried using the "Magic Wand" to select the black background - then use the 'Bucket fill tool" to flood the selected area with your desired colour.

If this is a .GIF file, you should be able to edit that color's definition in the color palette. (The only catch is that the same color may be in use elsewhere in the image.)
Click Adjust > Color Table..., and the Color Table dialog will appear. Locate the color you wish to change in the grid, and double-click it. On the resulting Color Color Picker dialog, locate the Hex: field in the lower right corner. Key 442b00 into that field, and click OK. Click OK again to return to your image.

I am agree with Brian that you must try "Magic Wand" to select proper black background for your GIF file image. Even, last time I have use this for getting this type of background for my creative art. So, this helps you to change background colour.
