@Joelle
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Intel Core i5 CPU 750@2.67GHz
... I have had to uninstall X2 as it was slower than a snail and drove me nuts.
I'm not surprised as X2 was made for XP and Vista 32bit systems in 2007/08. There was no i5 and Win7 64-bit.

I'm running X1 on Win7 Pro 64 bit with i7 processor and it's fine. Would be good if Corel would patch these older, better versions to run better on the newer Windows though.

There is no such thing like it works for me, it works for all. Working with the support team allows me to confirm that half of X2 users can't work on Win7 and the other half says it works fine.

mmm Yep very good.
Now how this reads to me in a sarcastic way. Of cause I maybe reading more into it then what's there so I'll give the benefit of doubt.

I do realize half are having trouble and the other half are not. This is not unique to the older versions going on the reports we see here. It seem all the newer versions that are made for Win7 and now 8 are having as many issue all be it different ones.

My first post was not to say it works for me so I don't care it doesn't for you mentality! This isn't the type of person I am and given time you may come see that I usually try my best to help people with issues.

It was funny how you took the part of the post that said "It work for me" and left out the bit that said "I hope Corel will do a patch so "ALL" the older versions work better on the newer Windows for us all.

This is "NOT" a personal attack!
This is merely to clarify my first post and explain that I'm aware others are having issue were I'm not. (Thankfully).

I have X4 and have used the X5 trial. Neither appeal to me. They both have issues with tools I've used for years being slow, cumbersome and inaccurate compared to earlier versions. The Organizer is far better set up and with no need to have this three work spaces the new versions have. I'm not alone on this and will stay with what work for me as I'm sure others will.

It would be nice if Corel would help support their products and patch them so we as the end users have a choice.
Hell if it's money, I'm sure people would paid for a patch if it means they can keep the interface, workspace and Organizers they prefer. And more importantly to me, Tools that work better! Faster and more accurately!

Hellow,

I have here thw same Problem too that the icon don't seem to load in the meue and froe them the programm displays somtehing different, after patching now i am so far that i get the small icons when i activate them, but the leger versions are still missing.

The support was wery helpfull, and sad to reinsall the programm and then close the tiket ....... ( irony )

so i hope that when i loook in the forum in some days someone will figer out what it is, or coral get a patch with the missing files done.

I installed and deinstalled it now on 3 Computerns and all have the same Problem.

I think it choud be that some INstall rotines are missing some Files from the Icons. I have installed it over CD, so coud someone say something if a Download insatll file hast the same Problem?

As you were using a CD disc to install my first thought was to download the X5 exe and try installing it with that. At the bottom of your post I see you've already tried this.

I see your running XP OPSystem. Are the other two PC's you've tried running XP as well?

X5 is designed to around Win7 OPSystem and could be PSP needs a dll file that's in that system. This is only conjecture! A thought.

The one thing that I may suggest is make sure your XP OS is up to date, and bring your video card drivers up to date also. I know you'd be asking why the V/C drivers, Well the card controls the graphic on your PC. Those icon's are apart of the graphic of the programs interface.
No guaranty it will work but it want hurt to have these things up to date anyway.

Best of luck.

I know my system is older and I mentioned in an early post that it is time to update, but my system meets system requirements. If X5 was designed for Win7 and newer then they should leave prior OS's off the box and not just say sorry I can't fix your problem.

I will continue to use X2 for now and will see how things go with X5 when I do update my computer. If it works then I will be happy. If it does not then I will try a program from another company that might care about customer service.

have PSP 8, X2 (12.50) , X3 (13.2.1.32), X4 (14.1.0.5 ) with SP1 only, X5 (15.0.0.183) all operating happily on XP home desktop and Windows 7 laptop machines. Having read about problems with Service packs I have avoided adding them til I kow they are safe or I really need them.

For X4 SP2 gives better Raw support, facebook features and some other things . SP3 again Facebook GIF and Organiser improvements.
Since I process RAW in the camera manufactureres software , and prefer to only use the Edit mode without the organiser and also prefer to upload facebook files from Windows I really have no need for these service packs.

For X5 again the issue of Raw support, Facebook improvements and overall stability were the main issues addressed. Since I do not have those problems I have not bothered to install the SP1.

My main workhorse for stability and ease of use is X2 (X3 tended to crash at times and have delays so I only used it for the ease of text work.) I also use it to make screen captures of work on X4 or X5 as they will run concurrently.
I now use X4 for most of my text work and also teaching others about PSP. X5 I am still getting used to.
