Tiffs wont open in PSPx5

Small problem I'm looking for an answer to.

I created some panoramas with Hugin and then worked on them in PSPx4. Saved then as 16 bit tiffs.

Those 16 bit tiffs won't open in PSPx5. Well they will open but all I get is numerous vertical bars.

I can do what I like with the files in x4 but nothing in x5.

It's not a big issue as I can easily redo the files in Hugin and then edit them in x5 but I am curious to know if anyone knows why this is happening. Its only if I save them in x4 and then try to open then in x5 that this will happen. Straight from Hugin to x5 is not an issue.
