Which filter/fx to use to move text/object go across screen

Post by myblackf150 »

Hey guys.

I'm trying to get text to scroll across the screen full height coming from the right to left, scroll across the screen at certain times of the video.
I saw some animation presets there for text but not what I'm looking for.
What I'm trying to do: along with a song, every time the name of the song comes up in the chorus, I'd like to scroll those words across the full height of the video as an overlay.
What is the best way to do this please?
And if it was just a graphic instead of text going across, what would I use to achieve that?

Thank you again.

Easier to show than tell - I just knocked up a quick tutorial on scrolling text - have a look at this - see if it helps you :-

An object is also quite easy depending on exactly how you want what to move - I'll knock up a tutorial of the easiest one and we can work from there.

OK - this is probably the most basic way of moving an object across the screen - you can do much more depending on exactly what you want to move - and how. If you want more complex movements then there are other options - 'Roto Pen' for instance allows you to draw a path for the object to follow.

have a look at this one for a start and move on from there - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVuN5b8r7ZA

There is a tutorial here on using Roto Pen :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWgm2ox8iNU

Brian you're amazing! Thank you!! :D
Your generosity taught me SO much and was exactly what I needed to learn.
I am extremely and sincerely grateful.

The rotopen was also very interesting. I've checked it out before but I wished there was a way to turn off the path drawing.
Let's say you wanted to make a bird or bee fly across the screen, having a path follow it around doesn't make it so appealing.

Again thank you so much.
