Windows 8/ VSx5 reconnecting files from VSx3&4

I just received my new computer with windows 8 I installed VSX5, I have transferred my VSx3 and x4 folders over to windows 8.
If my understanding is correct on the auto connecting files that you need all files (pictures/mpg's) in the correct folder in vsx5?
So when you open something in a previous version it will auto reconnect the proper files and mpgs? When opening the VS file?
Hopefully that doesn't sound too confusing.

You will probably first be asked to relink the video clips if they are on a different computer or in a different folder from the original. But usually you only need to link to the first clip in the project, then the rest should be automatically relinked -- provided that, yes, all the relevant project files are in the same folder.

Thanks, I thought they might have had to be put into the vX5 folder for the relink to work correctly. I have several, so I will have to just search around for them lol

Hi

If you have projects that you are working on you may be best to create a Smart Package, that will copy all clips used in the project to a single folder.
Then move the entire folder. As Ken says one re-link as all files are in the same folder .
