Move VideStudio to new computer

Post by janjatul »

I have just got a new computer and now I am starting to move my programs to the new machine.

If anyone has some recent experience I would greatly appreciate all advice to simplify the process. I am now on VS X5, and I have been buying upgrades for nearly every new release. I am not at all sure when I got a full version.

Last time I moved to a new computer I think I had to insert the full version, but I am not sure.
So please help with any advice that will smooth my process.

I am also using PhotoImpact X3 (also upgraded with new releases) so any advice which could be applied to moving that program is also in demand.

I want to move the programs and everything connected to them.

Thanks for your suggestions!

the latest upgrades will install if you have the serial number of the previous version - if you registered your products you should be able to retrieve the serial numbers from your registered products page on the Corel Website.

Hi Jan

First if you have any projects that you wish to use on the new computer create a Smart Package, that will copy all files used in the project to a new folder. Transfer the folder to the new PC, You should be able to open that project on the new PC, maybe a re-link would be required, but should work ok.

Your new computer,

You are not actually moving the program but installing it on the new PC.
For upgrade programs you will need proof of ownership of an earlier version, the serial number of X4 will allow X5 to be installed, you will of course need X5 serial number.

Same for Photo Impact, if its an upgrade then the previous programs serial number would be required.
If you have created your own EasyPalette galleres you will have to export those as well.

You should be able to install all your programs on the new pc whilst retaining the old pc's installations.
