I am new and the procedure is still confusing--is this where I post questions or is this only for "posting a reply" to something? I hope I can find this site again. I will go with my question:
First, in your questionnaire you asked for the Windows location: Both Drive C & D have Windows folders on them....?!?
Question: I cannot find out where the pictures are that have been "auto-preserved." It was automatically put into a sub-folder with PaintShop Pro X2. Can I have the "auto-preserved" pictures put into a sub-folder under the edited picture? I would like to have them in one location so I can easily put both on a CD if needed. Example: D:\My Documents\My Pictures\Po's BBQ\Po's BBQ 7-11\Corel Auto-Preserve
Thank you, Gary

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
I can't answer your main question. Hopefully someone with more experience with PSP will soon do so.
However, as I have advised you separately by email, I have moved your topic from out of the 'Please Read This Before Posting' sticky message above, and made it a separate post in its own right. I have also changed the title to reflect your main concern.
FYI, the question about Windows related to where the Windows *system* files are located, and that is usually C:\

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
I can only speak for X4, auto-preserve saves original images in a folder under the original. You need to enable auto-preserve in program preferences.
From the Help file:
==============================
Setting Auto-Preserve preferences:
You can set the program to always save a copy of your original (unedited) images in a clearly labeled backup folder. This feature essentially creates “digital negatives,” which can be accessed whenever you want to work with images in their original state.
To set Auto-Preserve preferences:
1 Choose File Preferences General Program Preferences.
2 From the left pane, choose Auto-Preserve.
3 Mark the Enable Auto-Preserve check box.
4 Click OK.
To create copies of original images automatically when you first save them :
In the dialog box that appears after you click Save, choose Yes - Do this every time. The original (unedited) image is copied to a Corel Auto-Preserve subfolder, which is automatically created within the folder in which you are saving the image.
To reopen the original image:
In the Open dialog box or the Navigation palette to browse to the Corel Auto-Preserve subfolder that contains a copy of the original image. The Corel Auto-Preserve subfolder resides within the same folder in which original image was first saved.
Avoid creating copies of original images:
In the dialog box that appears after you click Save, choose No - Save my images without preserving the original.

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
Thank you for your suggestions. I tried all those, but still have not found my auto-preserve photos. Like X2 & X4 it says "The Corel Auto-Preserve subfolder resides within the same folder in which original image was first saved." The folder is not marked with a + and I cannot open it any other way that I have found. In the Organizer Palette there appears in the lower left corner of the edited photo a pencil (?) in a box--but that has disappeared in an earlier photo I edited. The pencil does not respond.

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
Corel, for whatever reason, has hidden the preserved photos folder.
Hidden folders, by default, in Windows are not visible. As you would expect, they are "hidden" after all.
To show the hidden folders you need to turn on the option "Show hideen files, folders, or drives" from the folder options.
Open up your control panel by clicking on your Start button then selecting "Control Panel"
If you are using Category view -> Select "Appearance and Personalization" and in there you should see an option for Folder Options.
If you are using Large Icons or Small Icons you should just see an option that says "Folder Options"
The Folder options dialog should pop up and you can select the "View" tab.
In the "Advanced Settings" list you should see "Hidden files and folders" just select the "Show" option and hit "OK". Hidden files and folders should now be visible to you.

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
Followed the 'show hidden files and folders' suggestion. On my X5 the + now appears to indicate an auto-preserve present, but one click on the + and the + disappears and still no auto-preserve pix. On my Nikon View NX 2 the + is there and my auto-preserve pix are there. Yes, I shut it down and opened it back up. Did I mention that all previous auto-preserve pix are intact as per from the beginning. Guess if I ever want to use an auto-preserve I will have to move it from View NX to PSP X5.

Re: Where are auto-preserved pictures
You can move it from the file explorer built into Windows. No need to use another program. But, yes, PSP's Manager seems to ignore PSP's own hidden files.
