Hello Everyone,
I'm loading a bunch of JPG pictures to create a slideshow and they are all blurry. Yet when I view them in windows Photo Viewer, they are all nice and crisp. I'll probably will also add video files later in the project. So I'm at a lost why the JPGs look great in one program and blurry in VS X5!
For Preference\Edit, my "resampling Quality" is Best and I keep aspect ration. i checked "Apply anti-flickering filter on photos" and cache them in memory.
The project properties are NTSC DVD/16:9. Frame Type is "Upper field first".Setting is 100 "Quality" at a variable rate of 8000. Perform non-square pixel rendering is selected.
I also tried Frame type as "Frame-based" without better success.
In case some asks, my video card is an ATI HD5670
BTW, after applying Service Pack 1, in Preference, the "Default transition effect" keeps going back to Random. I tried selecting cross fade but it keeps going back to Random!
Help!
inserted JPG are blurry

Hi
And welcome to the forums.
Images displayed in the timelines and preview screens do not show as full quality, you can definitely see the difference between project an clip playback. But once you convert them to a video file they should be good.
Run a quick test, render the images to a video file and play back the video with one of your media players.
What are you trying to create? DVD, HD or Standard or video for the internet?
Can you tell us how large the images are, the pixel dimensions.
HD video uses 1920 x 1080 px your images should be that size as a minimum. A ratio of 16:9 will fill the frame.
Thanks for the info on Random transitions, I usually have this option turned off so hadn’t noticed this anomaly, in fact I don’t think it has been reported before.
I assume that it was ok before installing the patch?

Hi
I have done a little more investigation into the transition effect.
Although the random option seems to display each time we access Preferences, the last choice is saved and used, unfortunately opening Preferences and the Edit Tab does mean “Random” will be selected again.
I must admit I would have thought it would default to the last selected transition.

I believe so but I did not uninstall SP1 to prove it.lata wrote:Hi

Nope! The resulting MPG video looks just as bad in Windows Media Player.Images displayed in the timelines and preview screens do not show as full quality, you can definitely see the difference between project an clip playback. But once you convert them to a video file they should be good.

Mostly 4:3 or 3:4 (tall pics). Resolution is something like 3072 x 2304 (314 dpi) or 1600x1200 (180 dpi)Can you tell us how large the images are, the pixel dimensions.

This blurriness issue sure reminds me of the old MediaStudio Pro. If I recall correctly, I had this kind of problem. One day I discovered and tried VSX2 and noticed that this problem was gone! So I bought the product. Could it be that the old MSP rendering engine was brought back from the dead and put in the program after VSX2?
Back in the old MSP days, I think I had to create a template background and paste my pics into it in order to remain within the predefined size. I really hope I don't have to do this again! This is what the Corel support person this week suggested...save all my pics in 1080 x 768).
Assuming I have to do something like this, what should be the ideal size to maximize clarity...720 x 480 or a higher multiple of 4:3 ?
