New System Setup - Backups, Raid Etc. Especially Videos

Post by chrisjackson »

My daughter and I will be editing her 15 minute 720p videos for a weekly beauty video magazine online. I am putting together a hardware system cheaply to start with to edit the videos with VideoStudio X5 Pro Ultimate. Then 3 versions of the final result will be created with an HTML5 generator to support all browers with Flash fallback. So I will have 45 minutes of video to upload everyweek to the website server. Whether I need to back-up all 3 versions or just the finished edited one I don't know yet.

i7-920 EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 with 12gb ram.
EVGA 025-P3-1579-RX GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 2560MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Expres
Corsair GS700 PS
Someone wants to sell me a Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus for 45.00

The rest I need to buy, Hard drives, case.

The webserver will not be backing up our website or videos, it's up to me.

Everything I'm doing is new to me. I spent endless hours just to pick the video card and inexpensive motherboard and cpu and how much ram to get.

What suggestions for back-up and do I need a raid set-up with this situation?

Thanks for anything you might suggest!

You may also want to consider a cloud storage backup, like Google Drive, Dropbox or the one from Microsoft, since you actually setup these services to automatically sync or upload your files without you doing anything.

For SkyDrive (Microsoft) - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/skyd ... ere#1TC=t1
