Deleting files in VS9

Post by russcrabb »

I upgraded to VS9 and noticed a change. When deleting a thumbnail from the library, the system no longer asks if I want to delete the video file as well. Now, I have to delete the thumbnail and then go into file manager to delete the actual file.

Is there a way to set VS9 similar to the way VS8 was? It was quick to be able to delete both at one time.

It seems that Ulead went the opposite direction with VS9 because a lot of people were complaining about accidentally erasing the original from the computer when all they wanted to do was get rid of the icon from their library. The choices with VS9 seem to be either to accept things as they are and simply clean up your files after you have finished the project; or else (I understand) click and hold the Shift button when you click to delete a file from your library pane. This will apparently also erase the original. I have to say, though, that I have not tried it yet.

yes indeed if you hold down the shift key while you select a thumbnail and then delete it will first ask if you wish to delete the thumbnail and then ask if you wish to delete the actual file - just as it did in V8

Better this way.

Thank you for the tip. I tried it and it works perfectly. I do admit it is better to have it this way so you don't accidently zap a critical file.
