Inaccurate "Precise Cursor" positioning

Post by photodrawken »

PSPX5.
I don't know if this has been reported (this forum has a terrible search facility...), but I've just noticed that the brush size is 1px per side less than is set:

That sure looks like a 4x4 pixel brush....

Up beside the Size to the left if you choose the square shape and set hardness to 100 you will see your 5 x 5 pixel brush. the difference is becaus you have chosen the round shape and it is trying to redduce corner pixel density to simulate roundness .
Test both with 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 pixel brushes to see the difference.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I care not a whit about "corner pixel density", nor its reduction. When I use a hardness setting of 100% and set a 5 (or 4, or 6) pixel "size" for a round brush, I expect the brush's diameter to be 5 (or 4, or 6) pixels.

Aha! I was mistaken when looking at the brush and estimating its dimensions. Here's the brush when the grid is set to 1px:

Sure looks like a 5px brush, now....
What got me started on this is that the "precise cursor" crosshairs are not centered in the brush shape:

So, the title of this discussion should really be "Inaccurate positioning of precise cursor".
