Animation

Another question as I consider upgrading from Jasc PSP 8 to Corel PSP X5. PSP 8 includes a feature, Animation Shop, which is real useful for editing animated GIF files. Does PSP X5 have this capability?

I have Jasc Animation Shop and use it in conjunction with Corel PSP X5. However, the export to PSP feature in Animation Shop will no longer transfer the image to PSP. Instead you can use the "Save Frames As" feature in Animation shop and save to a .psp file type. You can then open the .psp file in PSP X5 with all the frames intact. Hope this helps. If someone knows of another method I'm sure they will jump in with instructions but this is the one I use.

Kathy is correct. Remember to tock the small box on the lower left when Saving As so that the files will open as layers rather than individual files.

You may also want to try Painter 12, that has a animator feature. You can download the trial at http://pnoy.me/coreltrials

Oh please Abiel ... 'try Painter' - it's like 4 times the price and this person is using PSP and AS. Painter is for dedicated painters.

IMHO:
Personally, I keep Jasc PSP7 installed on my ancient machine alongside the latest 2 versions of Corel PSP (X4 and X5 at the time of this writing) just because it includes Animation Shop 3.04, which is the last version of Animation Shop; plus it is programatically interoperable with PSP7 (but not necessarily programatically interoperable with later Corel versions of PaintShop Pro).

I still create animated sprites for the screen savers I develop, albeit it is a relatively lost art form...
