The Sp3 auto update arrived yesterday.
There does not appear to be anyway to refuse.
I checked it out at the Corel downloads site and it appeared to be harmless
It wipes out the workspace and does not load a saved workspace.
Its start all over again configuring the workspace.
X4 was working well previously and loading much better than X5.
If I uninstall and reinstall the original X4 purchased Sept 2012 with the Sp past updates included how do I stop this Sp3?
One way or the other, very discouraging

Re: Psp X4-Sp3 auto update-not good
Wow, such a small patch at that. I had to specifically download it myself, it wasn't thrust upon me. Even tried manually searching for the update and it wouldn't download. So I can't help with finding a way way to avoid SP3.
Are you saying that SP3 slowed down X4? Because I haven't noticed any slow-down on my system.
Also I was able to reload my previous workspace just fine. It's true that it didn't show up in my "Recent Workspaces" list but when I clicked on "Load" they all showed up and the one I recorded just before installing SP3 loaded right up with no issues.
So I guess I'm of no help to you at all.

No it didn't slow down X4.
The default workspace that loaded was like the original.
My preferences were kept but when I loaded one of the three saved workspaces none of the pallets went into place, the main menu bound script icons were not there and the general customized arrangement was not present.
I had no enthusiasm to rearrange the whole thing so I saved the little that I did and haven't had the impetus to start it up this morning.
In comparison to X5 it was loading swiftly and would resize a tif properly. This is not the case with X5.
I was at the point of uninstalling X5 and just staying with X4
There was no opportunity to stop the update patch other than clicking 'LATER'....so at each start up that message would be there.
Now I'm considering uninstalling X4, reinstall and figure out how to avoid that patch.

Re: Psp X4-Sp3 auto update-not good
Oh lord.....I just opened X4 and then loaded the workspaces.
All the saves were there.
I loaded my last used setup and for heaven's sake it loaded and everything is in place.
Obviously the computer had to be shut down for everything to fit back into place.
Still I'd prefer to choose to have an update applied.

Rose, Open the Corel Guide. (First icon in upper right, just before the minimize icon). Just to the right of the last tab "Messages" is a set of gears. If you click, on the gears, you should see anew window with two check boxes. Is the second box checked? If yes, uncheck it. This should prevent the automatic downloading of updates. Not sure, but I'd check the first box in hoped that they would at least send a message advising when updates are available.RoseW wrote:Still I'd prefer to choose to have an update applied.

Re: Psp X4-Sp3 auto update-not good
Has anything been fixed besides the ones mentioned below? I don't see anything worth taking the time to update X4.
Note: This service pack can be installed if you have updated your software with the previous service pack (Service Pack 2, version 14.2.0.1).
This update addresses the following issues:
* Facebook: Photos weren't always uploading to the selected album.
* GIF: A number of issues related to GIF output have been fixed.
* File Format Exclusions preference: Excluded file formats were displaying in the Organizer palette.
* File Locations preference: Some path information wasn’t accurate.
Released:
2012-12-03
Using Paint Shop Pro versions 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16

I haven't noticed anything, and it was just a 15MB update so that list could easily be all there is.
