Handling of Canon CR2 files

Post by gene_mtl »

Can any one confirm that X5 does not take into account the xmp side car files when reading a CR2 raw file?

That is correct.
In particular, PSP will not recognise ASP produced XMP files :(

Real nice to see you again, Tadjio!! Thanks for the confirmation.

Not what I wanted to hear, but what is, is what is. <Smile>

The "_mtl" confused me otherwise I might have recognised you after all this time...
As you can see, I am stuck into PSP and ASP, as well as occasional use of DPP for my Canon CR2 shots.
Where do your XMP files come from (not DPP I presume)?
I also use an Olympus E-PM1 so ASP is very useful for handling both cameras, with the immediate export to PSP when I need it.

Hehe, I'm not even in Montreal (MTL) anymore, having moved to Kingston, Ontario this past April.

I use Lightroom to convert my Canon 5D raw files. Used version 2 until the release of version 4 this year.

With the very recent reduction in price, I ordered X5, finally moving to a Corel version from my Jasc v9.

I am funding issues with JPG Optimizer, DCNR, now called DNR, and a few other issues/bugs that are quite annoying. I presently have an issue in with Support on the DNR filter. If that does not get successfully resolved, I see me availing myself of that 30 day money back guarantee that Corel offers.
