Corel and VS X4 download extractable

Post by Davidk »

This is both a bleat about the Corel website and as a result a request to forum members . . .

1. the bleat
I've just spent hours poring over the Corel website for an email address to lodge an unusual sales/customer service/support request (the next item). What a frustrating experience. I don't think I have ever seen a website where the vendor seems to care so little for their customers. If your are not buying, have something that is out of warranty, or simply want some customer service - get lost. Corel seems to go out of its way to be uncontactable using the internet. On the contact page there are addresses and phone numbers - the latter being long distance, charged calls to get in a queue? I've had several cases where the VS software wanted things sent to support - only there was no support address supplied. The one time I called the (australian) warranty number I wound up in Taiwan. This sort of customer interface really is not acceptable at any level, anywhere.

2. The request to the forum . . .
I have an associate who upgraded her VS - bought a boxed DVD copy of Video Studio X4 just before X5 was released. By the time it was received in Australia, X5 was on the market. The installation of the software was less than satisfactory
a. - it stalled out on a PC desktop at 68% and was still like that more 20 minutes later. It left a partly installed not very usable package.
b. - a second attempt on a laptop fared no better.
c. assuming the previous results were somehow a user issue, uninstalls/re-installs later by an IT person and (even later still) a computer repair shop using the purchased copy disk also did not do any better.

By the time the conclusion was that the program DVD was somehow damaged, the warranty period was over.

Which has left this user, having paid the full price for it, with a not very usable result. And she now needs to use it properly.

One quick way to resolve it is to download the trial version of X4, and apply the purchased copy license key to it on installation. However, the trial version of X4 is no longer posted on the website, even tho service packs for it are listed. Trying to find someone in Corel to ask that question of is what set off item 1

Can anyone on the forum supply a usable link to that trial download of X4?
Thank you

If you want to send or contact the Corel Support via email, you will need to login or create your corel.com account and from there go under the SUPPORT click on SUBMIT YOUR QUESTION.

Also Corel have a live/chat support that you can talk to them directly with any concern or question.

If the product was not installed and was determine that there is a problem with the installation disc, then a replacement can be requested by contacting the corel support.
